5 Reasons To Enroll Your Child In Piano Lessons

Blog

Piano lessons can be a very enriching extracurricular activity for your child. There are many benefits to taking one-on-one lessons, beyond the obvious benefit of learning a new musical skill. Knowing what these benefits are can help you decide if lessons are right for your child.

1. Build Self Esteem

Developing a skill helps boost a child's self-esteem. The simple act of working towards achievable goals and finding success can provide a major confidence boost. Learning to play a musical instrument can also give shy children a way to express themselves within their comfort zone, which will also help them increase their self-esteem.

2. Increase Concentration Ability

The ability to concentrate provides benefits across many facets of a child's life. This improved concentration can make schoolwork easier and lead to better general behavior in a variety of situations. Learning piano helps your child learn and practice the necessary skills for better focus and concentration. This practice will easily transfer to other parts of their life.

3. Improve School Performance

The skills learned from piano lessons will also help in the classroom. Beyond better concentration, there will also be benefits when it comes to developing problem-solving skills. Knowledge of music can help with spatial reasoning and logic skills, both key skills for success in math and other subjects. Learning to focus on goals while learning piano can also help your child with goal setting and achieving in the classroom.

4. Develop Perseverance

It can be very easy to give up when something doesn't come easy. Fortunately, learning to play the piano is done incrementally, so early successes for new learners help develop their confidence so that they have the perseverance to stick to it even as the skills they are learning become more complicated. Learning to face and overcome challenges will teach your child perseverance, which is something that will serve them many times in the rest of their life.

5. Enhance Quality of Life

The ability to appreciate music improves one's quality of life, so learning to make your own music will improve it further. Not only do piano lessons also teach music appreciation, but they will also introduce your child to other cultures through the shared language of music. Piano also provides a creative outlet that your child can fall back on at any time, even once they are an adult.

Music Makes the World a Happier Place

Ever since I was a young child, I have loved singing. While I never became a professional singer, I sing in a local chorus and I love putting on shows. However, I also enjoy listening to music and when someone asks me what my favorite music genre is, I tell them "all of them!" However, I especially love seasonal music and am always eager to turn on holiday music as soon as the weather begins getting cooler in the fall. I recently decided that more people need to embrace music, because it has healing qualities and really makes the world a happier place. I decided to create a blog to share my favorite new music finds, tips for singers, and many other music-related tips on! Come back often for a little music education and a lot of fun!
