Getting married is a very exciting time. There are many people who look forward to the wedding day without realizing just how stressful it can be to get everything together. One of the big things that you need to think about is the entertainment, namely the wedding band. Hiring a wedding band like ThrowBack Experience can be such a fun way to liven up the reception and ceremony, and a good band can make or break the party. Here are some things you should ask your wedding band before you hire them.
Can We Hear You Play Live?
Most wedding bands will have a demo tape you can listen to. It may be a video recording or just a digital music recording. Either way, that will be a good way to initially vet the candidates, but when you have it narrowed down, you should be able to hear them live. You may need to attend another gig that they have, or go to their practice and hear what they can do. This will give you an idea of how they perform, if they sound good live, and if they fit the idea of what you were thinking for your wedding.
Can We Make The Song List?
You need to be the one who chooses what is and is not played at your wedding. You should be able to give the band a list of songs that you would like played a couple weeks before, and if they don't know the songs, they should be able to learn them. Additionally, there may be songs or things that you don't want said at your wedding. A good wedding band is sensitive to this, and will do what they can to avoid things that you don't want done. This should all be discussed before you book them to make sure they can honor your wishes.
Any Hidden Fees?
There should be a clear amount that you will pay the band, and you should know this amount before you hire them. Ask to look over the contract so that you can see if there are any extra fees. This will be helpful so that the overall bill is what you'd expect. Additionally, you should ask if the band plans on eating, if they need equipment or brings their own, and how long they play. This will all contribute to the final cost.
As you can see there are many questions to ask a wedding band before hiring them.

Ever since I was a young child, I have loved singing. While I never became a professional singer, I sing in a local chorus and I love putting on shows. However, I also enjoy listening to music and when someone asks me what my favorite music genre is, I tell them "all of them!" However, I especially love seasonal music and am always eager to turn on holiday music as soon as the weather begins getting cooler in the fall. I recently decided that more people need to embrace music, because it has healing qualities and really makes the world a happier place. I decided to create a blog to share my favorite new music finds, tips for singers, and many other music-related tips on! Come back often for a little music education and a lot of fun!
